Jakarta –
Drivers who like to drive their cars on toll roads at speeds exceeding the limit set from April 2022 will be fined. This is made possible by the installation of ETLE cameras on toll roads. It is planned that the ETLE system will be integrated on the Trans Java and Trans Sumatra toll roads.
Previously, Jasa Marga’s Corporate Communication and Community Development Group Head Dwimawan Heru explained that Jasa Marga had installed 25 Speed Cameras (8 units in Greater Jakarta and Bandung, 16 units in Trans Java, and 1 unit outside Java) as well as the addition of 6 units from Korlantas. in accident-prone locations on the Trans Java Toll Road, namely the Jakarta-Cikampek, Palimanan-Kanci, Batang-Semarang, Semarang-Solo, Solo-Ngawi and Ngawi-Kertosono toll roads).
“In the middle of socializing the implementation of Electronic Traffic Law Enforcement (ETLE) on Toll Roads to support prosecution of vehicles that violate Over Load and Over Speed, by integrating the ETLE system with systems on the Trans Java and Trans Sumatra Toll Roads,” the agency’s official Twitter account wrote. Toll Road Regulator (BPJT) of the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing.
The installation of speed cameras and weigh in motion is the result of an evaluation from management which shows that one of the highest factors in accidents is fatigue/drowsiness and driving speed that exceeds the maximum limit.
Regulated in Government Regulation of the Republic of Indonesia Number 79 of 2013 concerning Traffic and Road Transport Networks in article 23 paragraph 4 and strengthened by Regulation of the Minister of Transportation Number PM 111 of 2015 concerning Procedures for Determining Vehicle Limits article 3 paragraph 4, the speed limit on expressways is 60 up to 100 kilometers per hour, according to traffic signs installed.
To drive on toll roads in the city, the minimum driving speed is 60 km/hour and the maximum driving speed is 80 km/hour. Then to drive on highways outside the city a minimum of 60 km / hour and a maximum (100 km / hour). If you exceed the speed limit, the driver will be ticketed with an electronic ticket system.
In the future, speed violators who exceed the limit will be caught on the speed camera complete with the vehicle number plate.
According to BPJT, the implementation of Korlantas ETLE with Speed Camera and Weigh In Motion is in line with the second pillar in the National General Road Safety Plan, namely ‘Safe Roads’.
“So if the car is already running at more than 120 kilometers per hour, it will definitely be captured and after verification there will be a love letter for the violator to pay the fine,” said Dirgakkum, Korlantas Polri, Brigadier General Aan Suhanan.
