Rain and snow will arrive in a few hours, as early as Tuesday. Today, however, it will be mostly sunny, reports the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (NIMH). There will be more significant low clouds over the extreme eastern areas. It will be mostly calm in eastern Bulgaria with a moderate southeasterly wind.
The minimum temperatures will be between minus 4° and 1°, the maximum – mostly between 8° and 13°. In Sofia the minimum temperature is about minus 1°, the maximum about 11°. Atmospheric pressure will decrease slightly and will be lower than the January average.
Over the Black Sea, cloud cover will most often be significant. A light to moderate southeasterly wind will blow. Maximum temperatures: 10°-11°. The sea water temperature is 9°-10°. Sea excitement will be 1-2 points.
It will be mostly sunny in the mountains. It will blow with moderate west-southwest winds. Maximum temperature at an altitude of 1200 meters – about 7°, at 2000 meters – about minus 1°.
There will be fog or low cloud before noon on Monday in multiple locations in the western part of the Danube Lowland and the Upper Thracian Lowland. Light to moderate south-southeasterly winds will blow over eastern Bulgaria. A rapid increase in cloud cover will begin later in the day from the west, and rain will fall in western areas overnight on Tuesday.
It will be cloudy on Tuesday. There will be rain in many areas, with a high likelihood that the amounts will be significant in some places. In the western half of the country the wind will shift to the northwest; it will be moderate to strong and cold air will enter. Towards evening, with cool weather, in the fields of the upper valley of western Bulgaria and in the western part of the Pre-Balkans, the rain will mix and turn into snow. Thunderstorms are also possible in the southern regions of the Rilo-Rhodope region.
