Filippo Pozzato is a former cyclist who won the Milan-Sanremo in 2006, several stages of the Tour de France and the Giro d’Italia. It was in this period that he organized the Giro del Veneto, which had not been in the region for twelve years. Not only that, it has many other surprises and events in store. In addition to cycling, Pozzato has another passion: cars and especially Ferraris.

How was the love for cars born?
“I like engines in general, from motocross bikes to cars. As a good Italian, I have always been a Ferrari fan. As a child I collected all the Ferrari models and I knew Enzo’s story by heart. In 2003 I had the chance to try a Ferrari 360 Challenge, there I fulfilled a dream “.

What was your first car?
“Where I come from, the Audi A4 was fashionable at 18, but I couldn’t afford it, so I bought a car that looked like it: it was a Lancia Lybra Station Wagon. Someone made fun of me saying it was an old man’s car. actually I needed space because I had to load the suitcase and the bicycle “.

What emotions did you feel driving a Ferrari?
“First of all, Ferrari carries a dream within itself, then I also had the good fortune to visit where the F1 cars are built and where the vintage cars are exhibited, another passion that I would like to cultivate. one of these racing cars gave me adrenaline, it’s inevitable, but as I always say: most people buy a Ferrari to get noticed, but I like to go to the track to try to understand how to drive it best. the big car think they know how to drive, in reality when they get out on the track they realize how difficult it is “.

What car do you drive every day?
“I use a Mercedes GLS to move around, it is comfortable and also allows me to load the bicycle: I often carry it around to relax a bit. With age I have become lazy and load the bike in the trunk without taking it apart”, he smiles.

Do you remember a car trip that has remained particularly in your heart?
“Beyond super sports cars, I have always liked the Audi RS6. I had three, but today if I grind 55 thousand kilometers a year it would be impossible to use it. I remember when I went to train with the RS6 and did the beautiful roads that they lead to Livigno. I had a lot of fun, a little less who was next to me. Let’s say that I usually have a clean guide, but when I start pushing a little, whoever accompanies me starts to worry “.

Do you like a particular driver?
“Yes, Charles Leclerc. For a while I lived in Monaco and followed him closely, ever since he was driving in the youth category. I know very well the uncle who raised him. I have seen his evolution. Humanly he is a beautiful person. , he is determined, calm and one, as they say in the jargon, with the hair. He has something more than the others “.

Do you have a dream car?
“More than one – he smiles – Ferrari supercars have always been my obsession. One of which I go crazy, and I still eat my hands for not having bought it because I wanted to make a phenomenon on the price, is the F40. 2008 I had a great chance, if I had bought it I would have made the bargain. Today the prices are prohibitive. It is one of the biggest regrets I have because it is one of my favorite cars along with the Dino and the Enzo. Another dream is drive an F1, perhaps from the seventies, to understand the technological evolution that has taken place from then to today “.

Instead, would you like to plan a nice trip?
“I would like, when I have some time, to travel around Italy in peace with a vintage car, perhaps with a Dino”.
