Speed camera marathon 2021
There is lightning here today
–
Since 2013, day X has been hunted down almost across the board for speed sinners. Today is that day. We’ll tell you where and when the flash will take place.
Lawn kills. Still. And again and again. The majority of the 2719 road deaths last year were due to “inappropriate speed”. That is why the police in large parts of Germany target speeders once a year. The last speed camera marathon took place on April 3, 2019. The first nationwide campaign of this kind was held back in 2013.
The next speed camera marathon will take place in Germany from April 21st of this year from 6 a.m. The action, known throughout Europe as a speed marathon, is coordinated by the European traffic police network Roadpol and lasts 24 hours – it does not end until 6 a.m. on April 22nd, 2021. The network wants to reduce the number of accident victims. The point is therefore not to punish as many speeders as possible, but rather to draw attention to the dangers of the lawn.
As in previous years, not all federal states are involved. So far, only the federal states of Bavaria, Brandenburg, Hesse and Rhineland-Palatinate have participated in this year’s campaign. Numerous federal states canceled their participation in advance – mostly due to staff shortages. Or they keep a low profile in advance. In the remaining federal states, on the other hand, thousands of civil servants will be on duty on the cut-off date.
But no matter where, the police will lie in wait nationwide on federal, state and district roads, avenues and highways. The same applies to the 30 km / h zones in front of schools and kindergartens.
While critics see the stated action mainly as a rip-off, the police are hoping that road users will change their driving behavior in the future and that they will be adapted to the speed limits. In order to refute the rip-off allegation, the checkpoints are announced in advance in most countries, as in previous years.
