Jokowi emphasized that democratic rights must still be priced at the rights of others.

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) said democracy in Indonesia guarantees freedom of expression for every citizen.

However, said Jokowi, this freedom must respect the rights of others as well. Because of that, he reminded that no society should feel the most self-righteous and blame others and that no society feels the most religious compared to other people.

This was conveyed by Jokowi on MPR Annual Session and the 2020 DPR and DPD Joint Session at the Nusantara MPR / DPR / DPD Building, Jakarta, Friday (14/8).

“Democracy does guarantee freedom, but freedom that respects the rights of others. Let no one feel the most self-righteous, and others be blamed. Don’t be the most religious yourself. Don’t anyone feel the most Pancasilasis itself, “said Jokowi.

According to him, all attitudes that feel the most correct and impose their will are usually incorrect things. Therefore, the President asked all components of the nation to work together, help each other, and remind each other in kindness.

“All those who feel the most correct and impose their will are usually not true,” he said.

Nevertheless, Jokowi assessed that the majority of Indonesians have an attitude of upholding togetherness and unity and full of tolerance and care for each other. So he is also sure that the current difficult times and crises will be handled properly.

Jokowi said that the noble values ​​of Pancasila and national unity and integrity are the main things for the nation and state. Because of that, he emphasized that the government will not give room for anyone to shake it. “We can’t give anyone the slightest chance to shake it,” said Jokowi.
