Speculations and Rumors Surrounding Apple’s Upcoming iPhone 15 Launch Event

As usual, Apple should launch its new line of iPhones next month. Although the official date has not yet been released, it is speculated that the iPhone 15 will be announced during an event on the 12th or 13th of September.

Official sales in the United States may start a week later, around the 22nd.

The new iPhones are expected to come in four models:

iPhone 15 Pro

iPhone 15 Pro Max

Rumors suggest that releases may reach the market costing more.

Here’s what to expect from the iPhone 15 line:

possible changes

End of the fixed rectangular cutout at the top of the screen (which houses the selfie camera)Sturdier phone bodyLighter devicesScreens with thinner edgesNew customizable button (to trigger commands in addition to just turning the phone’s sound on and off)Lightning port will give way to a USB-C titanium sides instead of stainless steel on Pro models

action button

The iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max models are expected to come with an Action button similar to that of the Apple Watch Ultra – which replaces the device’s touch button.

As detailed by the specialized website MacRumors, the iOS 17 beta 4 operating system test code suggests that the user will be able to program nine different functions in this area, allowing quick access to different functions, applications and settings, without necessarily unlocking the device.

screens and structure

The four iPhone 15 models are expected to have the same screen sizes as the previous line: 6.1 inches and 6.7 inches on the Pro models.

The most advanced (and expensive) models should have a body made with titanium, thinner structures and some minor design changes with more curved device edges.

The four devices are expected to have the notch in the Dynamic Island format, a space at the top of the screen to display notifications and some application features.

cameras

It is possible that Apple will keep the double set of cameras in the two simplest models and triple in the Pro and Pro Max versions.

The iPhone 15 Pro Max can also be sold with periscope lens technology to enhance the experience with zoom features. However, there are still not many details about this rumor.

New processor (but only on two)

Rumors also show that Apple would “aggressively” update the hardware specifications of its device with an eye on the ecosystem around its headset.

Standard iPhone 15 models may receive an upgrade to the A16 Bionic processor, which is present in the iPhone 14 Pro lineup.

The iPhone 15 Pro should use the 3-nanometer A17 chip — smarter and more efficient.

Devices must support faster and lower latency (response time between one command and another on the internet) home network capabilities. The company Qualcomm said it will allow “peak speeds of up to 5.8 Gbps” for a single device.

Memory

It is speculated that Apple will increase the storage space, ranging from 256 GB to 2 TB.

New colors

According to the TechRadar website, we will be able to see options in red, dark blue, silver, gold, graphite, space gray and / or space black

However, models in pink colors can also paint around.

How much will it cost?

The bad news is the price. According to rumors, Apple plans to increase the value of the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max models by up to US$ 200, approximately R$ 1,000 in direct conversion.

The justification would be the fact that the company is trying to increase revenue in the face of low sales expectations.

For the iPhone 15, Apple would aim to produce around 85 million units, below the 90 million units produced for the iPhone 14 model.

Last year’s launch prices were:

Other products

The launch of a new version of the Apple Watch Ultra watch is not ruled out. If confirmed, it will be the second generation of the device launched on September 7 last year.

The model is likely to gain improvements in processing, resistance and sensors, in addition to greater battery life.

The Apple Watch Series 9 lineup could also be announced. Rumors indicate more curved, resistant screens and new colors.

How will the event

Apple will likely merge previously recorded videos with live appearances by its executives, most notably Tim Cook, the company’s current CEO.

A face-to-face participation of guests, press and content creators is also expected.

For some years now, the company has used the Steve Jobs auditorium to announce new iPhones. This year, expectations are no different.

The event will be broadcast live on Apple’s website and within its Apple TV+ streaming service.

fight against android

Apple’s challenge to face the competition in the coming months will be great.

The company’s own survey predicts that the decline in iPhone sales will continue this quarter. This information dropped the company’s shares 2% and disappointed investors, even though it recorded revenue and profit above Wall Street’s estimates for the third fiscal quarter.

Apple is in a tricky position, with its flagship iPhone struggling for share against Android competitors in a mature market, while its recent big announcement, the Vision Pro mixed-reality device, has yet to reach consumers.

Apple said sales for the fiscal third quarter, ended July 1, fell 1.4% to $81.8 billion, while earnings per share rose 5% to $1.26.

That beat analyst expectations of $81.69 billion and $1.19 billion, respectively, according to Refinitiv data.

Performance in digital services (such as Apple TV+ and cloud storage capabilities) boosted third-quarter earnings, along with sales in China, which grew 8% year-over-year.

Apple’s research and development (R&D) spending reached $22.61 billion in the fiscal year so far, about $3.12 billion more than the year before. This would be being driven by work with artificial intelligence.
