Speculations and Delays Surrounding the Next Generation iMac Release

It will likely be the next generation of iMac The 24-inch is available with M2 and M2 Pro processor options, Thunderbolt 4 ports, Wi-Fi 6E support, and Bluetooth 5.3 support, according to a report today from Japanese Mac blog Otakara.

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has repeatedly claimed that the upcoming 24-inch iMac will be equipped with an M3 chip, so it’s not clear whether the information reported today is accurate, and it’s possible that Apple’s plans have changed, but no other sources have indicated that it will. iMac updated with M2 and M2 Pro chips so far, according to macrumors.com.

Mac Otakara notes that some custom 24-inch iMac configurations are experiencing shipping delays of up to one month at Apple’s online US store, but that’s been the case for a while now, and there’s no guarantee that an iMac update is imminent.

Last month, supply chain analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said Apple was unlikely to launch any new MacBooks with the M3 chip this year, but a new iMac has not been ruled out this year. Apple is not expected to hold an event in April. Next October, so if there is a new iMac this month, it will likely be announced in a press release on Apple’s website.

Overall, the rumors about what chip the new iMac will contain and when the computer will be released remain in flux, the only thing that is certain is that October continues to move forward with no product announcements from Apple yet.

The current 24-inch iMac with the M1 chip was released in May 2021.
