It starts again: Since February 26th, the celebrities have been floating above Germany’s most popular dance floor again. The 14th season of “Let’s Dance” has begun. This year’s candidates include stars such as singer Senna Gammour, ex- “Tagesschau” spokesman Jan Hofer and Ballermann star Mickie Krause.
“Nobody knows me”
The first celebrity who was allowed to introduce themselves in the opening episode was Rúrik Gíslason – and immediately the viewers on Twitter tapped their fingers. Hardly any “Let’s Dance” participant ever received as many compliments as the athlete from Iceland. However, he presented himself very modestly: “I think nobody knows me,” said the 33-year-old. “I’m Rúrik Gíslason and I’m from Iceland. I’ve played as a professional footballer for the past 17 years.”
“I hope the audience will like what I do on the dance floor. I really hope so.” Dancing is way outside of his comfort zone. But that looked very different on the dance floor. In the introductory show, Rúrik danced a Cha Cha Cha to “Hot Stuff” together with Malika Dzumaev and not only impressed the jury.
“Give Rúrik the cup directly”
The comments on Twitter quickly piled up. “Give Rúrik the cup straight away,” someone demanded, for example. “Rúrik reminds of Patrick Swayze in his performance,” wrote another viewer. But some also joked that the footballer is definitely the reason why Massimo Sinató is not taking part in the show this year – and not the baby.
The jurors were also enthusiastic about Rúrik Gíslason. Jorge González spoke of “pure sex appeal”. Motsi Mabuse raved about a “nice hip action” and Joachim Llambi sees the footballer dancing in the “first division”. The professional kicker received a total of 18 points. Only Valentina Pahde got more points that evening.
In the Kennelernshow the celebrities were assigned to their professionals. Rúrik Gíslason will dance with Renata Lusin in the coming weeks. What the other dance couples look like See here. Since no one could be voted out by the audience on Friday evening, the audience was allowed to award a golden ticket. The celebrity with the most calls is automatically one lap ahead and doesn’t have to tremble in the upcoming show. The athlete from Iceland got the most votes, of course.
