On Saturday morning (04/29/2023) there was a spectacular fire at 5:22 a.m. on the A3. The district fire inspection of the district of Aschaffenburg reports on this in a press release. A truck caught fire at the “Kohlsberg Süd” car park in the direction of Würzburg.
According to the report, the driver noticed the fire developing in the area of the trailer early on and was able to unsaddle the trailer in good time. As a result, he was able to bring the tractor unit to safety unharmed. Nobody got hurt.

By the time firefighters arrived, the truck trailer was fully engulfed in flames. “The fire was extinguished with two foam tubes and a total of four teams wearing respiratory protection,” the press release said. The refrigerated semi-trailer loaded with bananas had to be cleared out later for post-extinguishing work using a shell grab from the Waldaschaff fire brigade’s rescue vehicle crane in order to locate and extinguish the last embers.
Around 55 emergency services and 13 vehicles from the fire brigades from Weibersbrunn, Waldaschaff and Marktheidenfeld were deployed at the location of the fire. The rescue service was on site with an ambulance from the Malteser rescue station in Weibersbrunn to protect the emergency services.
The police have opened an investigation into the cause of fire. A salvage company takes care of the removal of the burnt-out wreckage in consultation with the Autobahnmeisterei. The Kohlsberg Süd car park was completely closed to access during the operation.
