Spectacular rescue operation by Kay de Wolf in video / Motocross World Championship MX2

When World Championship leader Kay de Wolf (Husqvarna) caught up with the lapped Arvid Lüning in the second race, the Swede crossed his trajectory over a table and both riders threatened to collide, but de Wolf reacted.

The problem of lapped riders was the central topic at the 15th round of the Motocross World Championship in Uddevalla, but what World Championship leader Kay de Wolf (Husqvarna) showed in the second round of the MX2 class was spectacular.

In the last three laps, De Wolf had Simon Längenfelder (GASGAS) in third place within striking distance. Längenfelder passed the lapped Arvid Lüning relatively easily, but then the Swede immediately switched back to the ideal line. Lüning even looked around again before approaching the wide RAM table and must have seen De Wolf approaching. Lüning did not take his foot off the gas, but continued to accelerate and took the table to the limit. However, their two flight paths crossed, so disaster was inevitable.

The world championship leader, who was flying up from behind with excess speed, had the presence of mind to take his left hand off the handlebars in the air and pushed Lüning away from him during the flight phase. This impulse caused Lüning to land a little further to the left and de Wolf a little further to the right on the track and there was no collision. A crash at this point could have had catastrophic consequences and could have ruined de Wolf’s title ambitions.
