The incident took place in Vauvert, in Gard. A Nicollin sweeper caught fire in a spectacular manner. The driver was able to escape from the vehicle and was not injured.
The scenario could have been much more tragic. Around 11:30 a.m., Monday January 8, the driver of a small cleaning sweeper decided to get out of the vehicle because he smelled a burning smell from the floor.
In just a few minutes, the vehicle caught fire at rue du Mail in Vauvert, near the École de la Libération and La Cabidoule. The police secured the scene, while around ten firefighters worked to put out the fire.
Several detonations even rang out, the tires having exploded under the effect of the heat.
At 1:40 p.m., a tow truck came to remove the vehicle, which was completely burned.
