Nintendo and The Pokémon Company have one today official website to Pokémon Home opened and thus, for the first time, concrete and numerous details about the “new home” for your Pokémon were announced.
The application will be launched on Nintendo Switch and smartphones in February, we have known this since the last Pokémon-Direct. The basic functions of Pokémon Home are collecting, transferring and exchanging Pokémon. Of course, this only works with compatible games. For the time being, these are: Pokémon sword and shield, Pokémon Let’s Go: Eevee and Pikachu.
Compatible with Pokémon Bank from the start
In addition, and this should be particularly important for Pokémon fans, you can connect both the switch version and the smartphone version of Pokémon Home with Pokémon Bank. To link to Pokémon Bank, however, you will need to have the premium model from Pokémon Home. Also:
To celebrate the release of Pokémon Home, Pokémon Bank and the PokéMover application will be free for a month after Pokémon Home is released. With Pokémon Bank and PokéMover, you will be able to broadcast Pokémon from various games in the Pokémon video game series. Once your Pokémon are in Pokémon Bank, you can transfer them to Pokémon Home!
Nintendo also has plans to link to Pokémon GO. The infographic clearly shows in which directions it all works:
* Having a Pokémon from Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! or Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee! transferred to Pokémon Sword or Pokémon Shield, you can no longer use Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! or Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee! send back. However, you can get Pokémon from Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! after Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee! (or vice versa).
Four ways to trade Pokémon
Exchanging Pokémon through Pokémon Home works in four different ways. Pokémon stored in the wonder box are offered for exchange worldwide, even if you do not use Pokémon Home. The Global Trade System (GTS) allows you to trade specific Pokémon and search for specific Pokémon. Join up to 20 trainers in the group swap and you only see which Pokémon you get at the end. The exchange of friends is self-explanatory.
Pokémon Home also offers a National Pokédex and secret gifts and additional functions such as ratings and … a little bit more of everything in the paid service. A month of premium service in Pokémon Home costs 2.99 euros, the whole year there is 15.99 euros. Below are two tables that show you version differences of Pokémon Home and the advantages of the premium subscription.
