Tangerang (ANTARA) – Medical Specialist in the Department of Dermatology and Venereology of Sari Asih Hospital Serang, dr. Kharisma Yuliasis Widiasri confirmed that sunlight has a positive effect on the body, but direct exposure can cause adverse effects.

Vitamin D in the body is one of the natural antibodies produced by consuming fat-soluble foods such as fish, eggs, milk, and fruits such as oranges.

This vitamin is often called the sunshine vitamin, due to its properties that it will work effectively when the body is exposed to sunlight.

It’s just that the adequacy of vitamin D for each person is different. If there is enough vitamin D in the body then positive benefits will be gained in the body such as strong bones, strong muscles, strong immune system and others.

Although sunlight makes a positive contribution to the body, there is also the opposite. Direct exposure to sunlight can be very dangerous and harmful to the skin.

“Repeated sun exposure of skin without any protection will cause various kinds of adverse effects on the skin,” she said.

Some examples of the negative effects of unprotected direct sun exposure are darker skin, premature aging, rough skin, the appearance of black spots on the skin and the risk of skin cancer.

For that Dr. Kharisma Yuliasis Widiasri suggests protecting your skin from direct sunlight by protecting your skin by wearing long shirts and pants, hats, umbrellas, and using skin-protective creams if needed.

He explained that sunlight is indeed very good for the body, it’s just that if it is hit directly repeatedly and continuously without protection it will have a negative effect on the body.

“For this, make it a habit to keep your body skin healthy and consult an expert if something undesirable happens to our body skin,” she said.*
