Mitsubishi cars in the world are equipped with various types of driving modes, however special Xforce made one that is very suitable for road conditions in Indonesia, namely wet mode.

Xforce is Mitsubishi’s first car to have this feature, its function is to help drivers deal with two things, namely rain and floods that make the road surface wet.

“Xforce is the first Mitsubishi to have a wet mode,” said Masahiro Tamura, Product Appeal Evaluation Department at Mitsubishi Motors on the sidelines of the session. test drive Xforce in Karawang, Thursday (7/9).

Overall Xforce has four driving modes, normal for everyday needs, gravel for the road off road dry, mud useful for tackling the road off road wet or muddy and wet which ensures that this five-passenger SUV can safely cross wet asphalt roads or puddles.

The four driving modes work in combination with the four available features, viz traction control (skid control), AYC (Active Yaw Control), acceleration (responsive) and steering (steer weight).

In his presentation, Tamura explained that each feature has a level 1 to level 5 to describe its performance level from low to high. In normal mode, traction control is level 3, YAW control is level 1, acceleration is level 3 and steering is level 3.

Meanwhile on wet mode, traction control level 4, YAW control level 4, acceleration level 1.5 and steering level 4.

“Special wet mode, so we tune the steering wheel heavier to create a sense of security. Because when it is very slippery, it is generally difficult for consumers to control it, so AYC is more active in supporting the movement of cars. Then the acceleration is reduced to low and traction control level 4. This is the best tune for the condition wet,” said Tamura.

According to Tamura wet mode the one in Xforce is real, not a gimmick. But he did not explain further about this.

Tamura also explained that the wet mode in Xforce is not a feature to overcome aquaplaning, namely the condition of the tires being lifted and away from the road surface when the car crosses a puddle.

“To be honest (aquaplaning) depends on tire performance and (car) weight. Wet mode maybe it can help but not much because (aquaplaning) is influenced by tire design and vehicle weight,” he said.
