Special Staff to the Minister of BUMN Arya Sinulingga explain the reasons why PT Dirgantara Indonesia (PTDI) paying employee salaries in installments. The salary arrears occurred because there were aircraft sales that had not been paid for.

“We know that the military industry is a rather long-term industry. So, for example, one plane or one helicopter has a long sales period. So there are people whose income is hampered,” said Arya at the BUMN Ministry office, Monday (18/12).

Meanwhile, from the cash side, Arya said PTDI still has expenses that need to be covered. He said the problem of delaying employee salaries could be resolved this month.

“Earlier we checked with PTDI, they are waiting for payment from the plane orderer. The goods have been sent, but not yet disbursed,” he said.

Separately, PTDI Corporate Secretary Gemma Grimald explained that no employee salaries were cut, they were only paid in stages.

He confirmed that the salary installments occurred because the payment process from several customers still took time even though the contract had been signed and was effective.

“Including the shift in payments from DND Philippines due to a change in leadership at DND Philippines. Another example is the contract for the Modernization of the Indonesian Air Force’s C130 and the Procurement of the Indonesian Navy’s CN235 which has been signed. Currently it is still in the process of finalizing the contract to become effective and it is targeted that payment can be received from the Indonesian Government in December 2023 – Jan 2024,” he was quoted as saying detikcom.

The news about the postponement of PTDI employees’ salaries was known through a circular from management number SE/028/030.02/KU 0000/PTD/12/2023 concerning Shortfall in Salary Payments for November 2023.

The letter explains that the sale of unused material inventory (dead stock) and receipt of advances from customers which are allocated as a source of salary payments are currently still in process.

So, the full payment of salaries for November 2023 which is planned to occur on December 15 2023 can only be paid a maximum of IDR 1 million per employee.

“The salary shortfall for November 2023 will be paid no later than Friday 22 December 2023,” the letter said.
