To mark the 60th anniversary of the Bundesliga, a special version of the Official Match Ball for the 2023/24 season will be used on the first two matchdays of Germany’s highest division.

August 15, 2023 – The 61st Bundesliga season begins on Friday evening (8:30 p.m.) with the encounter between SV Werder Bremen and German champions FC Bayern Munich. The game will be broadcast in German-speaking countries on DAZN and live on free TV on SAT.1.
Before the encounter, the frontmen of the country rock band The BossHoss, Alec Völkel and Sascha Vollmer, will perform the German national anthem. Among other things, The BossHoss became known for their interpretations of pop songs in country rock music style and their 2011 released and self-penned single “Don’t Gimme That”. Völkel and Vollmer have also been coaches on the singing talent show “The Voice of Germany” in the past.

As interpreters of the anthem before the start of the Bundesliga, The BossHoss (current album: “Electric Horsemen”) follows Carolin Niemczyk (2022), Michael Schulte (2021), Sasha (2020), Nico Santos (2019), Max Mutzke ( 2018), Namika (2017) and Tim Bendzko (2016).
