Special Mass for Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI to be held in San Antonio – NBC 7 San Antonio

SAN ANTONIO – The Archdiocese of San Antonio has announced that it will hold a special Mass for Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI in San Fernando Cathedral on Wednesday, January 4.

According to a release, a special liturgy in memory of Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI will take place at 11:00 am at the San Fernando Cathedral, located at 115 Main Plaza, San Antonio.

Archbishop Gustavo García Siller will preside over the commemorative Mass and will be joined by the Bishops of Texas, Oklahoma and Arkansas, who are currently meeting in San Antonio for their annual retreat.

Joseph Aloisius Ratzinger, better known as Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI, died in the early hours of Saturday, December 31, in the Vatican. The funeral of the pope emeritus lasted several days and will culminate this Thursday.
