The federal report also reveals multiple issues that arose after the gunman was killed, including challenges in evacuating students from the school, reuniting them with their families, providing accurate information about the incident, and offering necessary therapy services to those affected.
“The response to the May 24, 2022, mass casualty incident at Robb Elementary School was a failure,” bluntly concludes the Justice Department report. The report was specifically requested by Uvalde’s then-mayor, Don McLaughlin, who expressed concerns about potential cover-ups and being excluded from other investigations due to conflicting narratives surrounding the event.
