The government raises electricity rates for 5 groups of non-subsidized customers for the period July-September 2022. Customers who experience tariff adjustments are household customers of 3,500 VA and above and government customers.
The increase is for household customers R2 with a power of 3,500VA to 5,500VA and R3 with a power of 6,600VA and above, the tariff increases from Rp1,444.70/kWh to Rp1,699.53/kWh.
Government customers P1 with a power of 6,600 VA to 200 kVA and P3 the tariff is adjusted from Rp. 1,444.70/kWh to Rp. 1,699.53/kWh. Then, P2 government customers with power above 200 kVA have the tariff adjusted from Rp. 1,114.74/kWh to Rp. 1,522.88/kWh.
The Director General of Electricity at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Rida Mulyana, explained that currently there are 13 groups of non-subsidized PLN electricity customers. Meanwhile, this adjustment was only applied to 5 groups.
“And it was decided that we would adjust it for R2, R3 and the government sector or P or the public,” he said at a press conference at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Monday (13/6/2022).
Tariff adjustments were made due to considering a number of macro indicators. Rida said that household customers whose rates were adjusted were upper middle class customers.
“What we adjust is middle-upper household, almost luxurious,” he said.
Rida emphasized that the new tariff will take effect from next month.
“This is effective as of July 1st. Now the old tariff. But what we have conveyed is as of July 1, 2022,” he said.
