A lot is unfinished, some in need of renovation, some almost ready for demolition.” Disguised as construction workers with safety helmets and high-visibility vests, the GEW members made it clear to passers-by: “We’re tackling – for good education.” Regarding the demands written in large letters on the building blocks were to read, among other things, “equal educational opportunities for all” or “investments instead of shortage management”. Simone Flissikowski commented: “Educational policy is preventive social policy.” It is not enough to just invest financially in the education system. The sense of responsibility in politics must be strengthened so that the construction site becomes a house with a solid foundation.
