The arrest of a 58-year-old foreigner was carried out by officers of the Regional Narcotics Prosecution Team (PODIN) with the assistance of officers of the Security Office of the Central Port Authority of Igoumenitsa, for violating the provisions of article 155 of Law 2960/01.
Specifically, in a control carried out at the entrance gate of the external port of Igoumenitsa in a truck with a seat, driven by a 58-year-old man, 284 packs of cigarettes were found carefully hidden, lacking a special consumption tax tape.
The amount of cigarettes was found in the tractor and in the left pallet box of the passenger and was divided into two wooden boxes which had double walls, in order to achieve their most effective concealment, while part of it was found in the inner part of the speaker inside the tractor and in the left side outer cabinet of the tractor.
The Igoumenitsa Port Authority, which is conducting the preliminary investigation, confiscated the truck, the vehicle and the quantity of tobacco products.
