30-year-old Sabrina Henderson wanted to help her 33-year-old brother Shane Petrie start a family – she became a surrogate mother.
Shane and his 37-year-old beloved Paul decided in 2020 that they were ready to become parents. Sabrina, a mother of four of her own, volunteered to be a surrogate using her egg and Paul’s sperm.
She gave birth to baby Tristan last September, and the family recently celebrated his first birthday.

Shane and Paul adore him, as do the rest of the family, and Sabrina considers the baby her “special nephew” because of their unique bond. She says she felt so “intensely proud” of her surrogacy that she volunteered to do it again if Shane and Paul wanted to give Tristan a sibling.

Sabrina, a property manager from Riverside, California, said: “Tristan is perfect, healthy and we love him very, very much. Shane and Paul are the best dads – they talk about him all the time and call Tristan their little monkey. I have that with Tristan.” a special bond because I helped create him – there are no words to describe it, but it is a strong love. Sabrina and her four sisters said they would become surrogate mothers for Shane when he came out as gay at 16. When Shane and his husband decided they wanted to become parents in 2020, Sabrina was the top candidate for surrogacy and was happy to help.
This is because her older sister had already had three Caesarean sections, her middle sister had difficult pregnancies, and her two younger sisters were still teenagers at the time. Sabrina agreed to use Paul’s sperm and her egg so that both parents would be related to the child.

From November 2020 to December 2021, there were five failed fertilization attempts and one miscarriage before she finally became pregnant again in January 2022. She said: “When we found out I had miscarried we were absolutely heartbroken. I was bleeding very heavily and even needed surgery. It was terrible.
