Hon Hai founder Guo Taiming stressed today (26) that the group’s semiconductor layout will not copy TSMC and will be fully staggered with TSMC. It will focus on niche, next generation materials and next generation process packaging development and focus on automotive applications.
Guo Taiming revealed that he and Jiang Shangyi have known each other for a long time, and this time, thanks to the arrangement of Hon Hai President Liu Yangwei, they chatted for half an hour on Hon Hai Technology Day.
He also pointed out that all countries now regard semiconductors as strategic materials such as oil, and many industrial policies are calling for “Taiwan Plus One”. Now, except Taiwan production, everyone hopes to have a plan B, such as TSMC’s going to the United States. An example of this is the opening of a factory in Lisanna, also Sharp, a subsidiary of Hon Hai Group, owns an 8 inch wafer factory.
As for the layout of Hon Hai Semiconductor, Guo Taiming said that it is basically completely offset from TSMC. TSMC has done a good job in the semiconductor industry, so there is no need to repeat the development.
Guo Taiming pointed out that Taiwan’s semiconductor industry is very important in the current process of globalization. There are many semiconductor talents in Taiwan. It is very important to hope that under the leadership of TSMC, regardless of the United States, Japan and Europe , the upstream and downstream supply chains will come together in a single ring.
