Al-Marsad newspaper: Clinical nutritionist Evelina Saponitet revealed that people with dementia have difficulty processing feelings or experiences from past events due to memory loss or cognitive decline.
She explained, according to the “express” newspaper website. They express themselves through physical actions rather than through verbal communication because these memories become more tangible during sleep states, such as REM sleep.
She pointed out that REM sleep usually begins after about 90 minutes of sleep, and dreams during this stage are more clear and sometimes strange.
“Similarly, they show similar actions when they are engaged in activities, such as talking loudly in bed or making gestures that indicate performing a task related to what they are dreaming of at the time,” noted Evelina.
Patients with this disorder can start punching, kicking and screaming while they sleep.
