Speaker of the US House of Representatives Kevin McCarthy has said that more citizens of his country are dying on the US border than in the war in Ukraine. He indicated that he wants to help Kiev, but the US is a priority, UNIAN news agency reported.
“I support Ukraine having the weapons it needs, but I strongly support (securing the) border first. So we have to find a way to do this together,” McCarthy told Face the Nation.

According to him, before helping Ukraine, it is necessary to ensure the security of the US borders. “We will work with people in need, but the White House must understand one thing: they must prepare better to ensure the security of the American border,” concluded the politician.
US President Joe Biden submitted a request for $24.1 billion in military aid to Ukraine back in August. At the same time, not all American lawmakers agree to take this step.
On October 1, the US approved an interim budget that does not provide for aid to Ukraine. In turn, Ukraine’s ambassador to the United States, Oksana Markarova, noted that nothing threatens the supply of weapons and equipment to Kyiv.
