[메디컬투데이=이재혁 기자] SPC Group’s bakery brand Paris Baguette announced on the 15th that it has surpassed its 600th global store by opening the ‘Bloor Street branch’ in Toronto, Canada.

Paris Baguette recently signed contracts to expand into three additional Southeast Asian countries, including Thailand, Brunei, and Laos, and is accelerating its global business, with plans to build a global halal certified factory in Johor Bahru, Malaysia, at the end of this year.

The 600th global store is even more meaningful as it was achieved in North America, the core market for Paris Baguette’s global business. Paris Baguette’s North American business is on track and has opened 30 stores so far this year, operating about 190 stores, and plans to open 20 more stores by the end of the year.

Paris Baguette’s 7th branch in Canada and its directly managed flagship store, ‘Bloor Street Branch’, opened with 230 m2 and 30 seats, and is located on Bloor Street in Yorkville, the central commercial district of Toronto. The front of the store was decorated with a dark brown toned façade to blend in with the characteristics of a commercial district filled with luxury fashion brand stores, five-star hotels, and high-end restaurants. Wood was actively used and modern design was applied to create a high-end boutique style.

As a flagship store representing Canada, it sells not only Paris Baguette’s representative products such as croissants, pastries, sandwiches, and whipped cream cakes, but also various goods such as eco bags, tumblers, and mugs with the Paris Baguette logo engraved on them.

An official from SPC Group’s Paris Baguette said, “Canada is a representative Anglo-American country and also has French cultural areas such as the Quebec region, so it is a strategically important market for Paris Baguette.” He added, “We are accelerating business expansion in the global market, including Canada, to become a ‘global great food company.’ “We will move toward our vision,” he said.

Meanwhile, Paris Baguette is currently operating in the United States, Canada, France, the United Kingdom, China, Singapore, Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Cambodia, and recorded about 650 billion won in overseas sales last year.
