The injury that kept Trnava football captain Martin Mikovič out of the Fortunaliga match in Dunajská Streda turned out to be more serious.

Magnetic resonance showed that it is a torn meniscus and Mikovič will have to undergo surgery. The Spartak club website informed about it.

“After training before the match in Dunajská Streda, my knee swelled and I let the coaches know to prepare another player just to be sure. At first we thought it might be related to the change of terrain, since we also trained on artificial grass.

I also suspected that some older injury might be heard and it would pass after a while. It didn’t get better and on Monday I went for an MRI where it was confirmed that I had a torn meniscus.” said the Trnava captain, who regrets that he won’t be able to make it to the next match with Slovan or the final fight for the Slovak Cup.

“I’m going to have surgery on Monday, they say that such procedures are already done at the gatehouse, so I hope that I will be fine again soon. However, I will not play again this season. I will keep my fingers crossed for the boys and I believe that they will do well.” Mikovic added.
