The Amsterdam court will consider the application of Spartak Moscow striker Quincy Promes on September 20. This was reported by AT5 TV channel.
According to the source, the Dutch prosecutor’s office is counting on the personal presence of Promes during the trial. It is not specified which of the two claims submitted by the footballer will be considered by the court.
In June 2023, a court in Amsterdam found Promes guilty of attacking his cousin with a knife and sentenced him to a year and a half in prison. In February of this year, the Spartak player received another six years in prison in absentia in a drug smuggling case. After this, he was placed on the international wanted list.
On February 29, Promes was detained while going through passport control at Al Maktoum airport in Dubai and was unable to fly after training with Spartak to Russia.
The reason for the player’s arrest was that he had an accident at a training camp in the UAE and ran away from the scene of the accident.
Promes is still in custody in the UAE and is awaiting a court decision on his extradition to the Netherlands. It was reported that the first court hearing should take place on Thursday, May 2.
In February 2021, Promes left Ajax Amsterdam and returned to Spartak Moscow. This season he played 21 games for the red and white, in which he scored eight goals and made eight assists. Promes’ contract with the Russian club is valid until the end of this season.
