Clubism is not extinct yet! This fact was confirmed by Matěj Pulkrab, a pupil of the Prague Sparta, who was able to leave for the rival Slavia and quite possibly improve his career and money. However, the 25-year-old striker decided not to take advantage of the offer and left for the second-league German Sandhausen.
Matěj Pulkrab has not experienced a very quiet period in recent weeks. He decided not to renew his contract with Sparta, in which he never managed to fully engage, and there was speculation that he should leave for rival Slavia.
The player himself announced the interest of the team and the teammates so that something similar would not happen, as in the case of Srdjan Plavšič. The club then issued a statement where the players were relatively “painted”.
However, Pulkrab eventually decided not to use Slavia’s offer and eventually left as a free agent in the second-league German team SV Sandhausen.
That means only one thing, clubism is not extinct. Pulkrab chose a path that is much more thorny in terms of his career development. If he moved to Slavia, he would play for the title and quite possibly he would be able to win the role of the number one attacker.
Jindřich Trpišovský and his team can lift the player and if he succeeds, he could try a foreign engagement. But these are mere speculations.
Pulkrab certainly considered the offer, he would have better financial conditions in Slavia than in Sandhausen, but the heart and the anger of the fans decided that would fall on him.
Spartan fans now thank him for choosing a more complicated path from an objective point of view, and many apologize for believing he would cross the river.
But only time will tell if the German path was the right one. However, his clubism is also appreciated by some Slavia supporters.
