Unsuccessful Czech evening in the European League. The Sparta footballers lost to AC Milan 0: 3, and Zlatan Ibrahimovič did not convert the penalty. Liberec even fell 1: 5 in Belgrade.
The Spartans did not score even in the second round of the basic group of the European League. The Rossoneri’s win at San Sir was decided by Brahim Díaz, Rafael Leao and Diogo Dalot, and in the first half, the star striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic did not convert a penalty kick.
Sparta joined the basic group last week with a 1: 4 defeat to Lille. After the national team break and the interruption of the Czech highest competition due to coronavirus, this was the first match since the beginning of October for the Letna team, which also had to deal with several absences.
And because the Czech league has still not started, in the next match, Sparta will perform again next Thursday in the European League at the Celtic Glasgow stadium. In the table, the team that last returned to the basic group of one of the European Cups after four years ranks last. He leads AC Milan with six points, the second is Lille with four and the third Celtic with one point.
Liberec suffered a 1: 5 debacle on the ground of the Crested Star Belgrade and did not follow up on the initial home victory 1-0 over Ghent. The Serbian champion led El Fardou Ben 2 2-0 after two goals, Jan Matoušek reduced the break, but after the change of sides, three other home players Milan Gajič, Aleksandar Katai and Diego Falcinelli prevailed. Due to anti-coronavirus measures, it was played without spectators.
Liberec suffered one of its three highest defeats in European cups; he succumbed to the four-goal difference twice in the past, in both cases 0: 4. The Red Star of Slavia partially retaliated for the elimination in the 2006 UEFA Cup.
After two rounds of the group, Liberec is third with the same point gain as Crvena zvezda. Slovan loses three points to leader Hoffenheim, on whose soil he will perform in a week. The first two teams in the table will pass into the spring elimination fights. Liberec plays a group of cups for the fifth time in history and for the first time since 2016, it managed to advance only in the 2013/14 season.
