On Wednesday, Sparta Prague won 2-0 in the last preliminary round of the Champions League against the Swedish team Malmö FF and increased the chances of advancing to the elite club competition before the rematch at Letná.
Although the Swedish team controlled the ball much longer, Sparta was more dangerous. The Czech club’s opponent scored the first goal himself, when the ball bounced off Jens Larsen into the home team’s goal in the first half after a shot by Veljko Birmančevič and a run by Lukáš Haraslín.
The second goal was scored at the end of the match by the Spartans defender Matěj Ryneš, who, after a pass from Asger Sörensen, aimed a left-footed shot from outside the penalty area exactly into the far bottom corner of the Swedish goal.
The second leg against Malmö will be played at the Sparta Stadium on August 27.
