SPARKLE, THE NEW MANTA SYSTEM WILL PROVIDE HIGH CAPACITY AND LOW LATENCY ROUTES

Liberty Networks and Gold Data had already announced a partnership to combine their submarine systems, GD-1 and LN-1, now renamed “MANTA”. Sparkle joins Liberty Networks and Gold Data to build the northern portion of MANTA, connecting the United States to Mexico, and Liberty Networks for the southern portion connecting Panama and Colombia. The MANTA submarine system will be the first international submarine cable in the Gulf of Mexico to connect Mexico and the United States with Central and Latin America. The system will be approximately 5,600km in length and is designed to support a minimum of 20TB per fiber pair. With new access points in Veracruz, Mexico, and Apalachee, Florida, MANTA aims to improve traffic flow in the region by providing new low-latency routes between major digital hubs in Mexico City, Queretaro, Bogota and Panama City and the United States.

“We are thrilled to partner with Liberty Networks and Gold Data on this innovative project. Manta lays the foundation for the digital acceleration of the entire region,” said Enrico Bagnasco, CEO of Sparkle. “We are very pleased to have Sparkle join us and Gold Data to build this strategic infrastructure that will completely revolutionize connectivity in the region for decades to come,” said Ray Collins, SVP of Infrastructure and Corporate Strategy at Liberty Latin America. “MANTA represents our ongoing commitment to facilitating seamless connectivity across the Caribbean and Latin America region with a reliable and resilient solution focused on the future of data traffic.”

“We are pleased to have Sparkle join Liberty Networks and us in the development of MANTA. Together, we will create a new digital highway that will revolutionize connectivity between Mexico and the United States,” said Renato A. Tradardi, CEO of Gold Data.

The new MANTA submarine cable system will be operational by 2027. The companies plan to announce their technology supplier soon.
