While bank branches are closing elsewhere, a new one is opening its doors in Altenkunstadt. The Sparkasse Coburg-Lichtenfels, which closed its branch on Rechtsanwalt-Krauß-Straße during the Corona pandemic, is moving into the vacant property in the retail park on Weismainer Straße, where the “Mister*Lady” clothing store was previously located. The building committee approved the change of use on Tuesday evening.
Two ATMs, one counter
“The branch will house two ATMs, a counter with workstations and seven advice centers as well as a safe with lockers,” said Johannes Opel from the building administration. Mayor Robert Hümmer (CSU) was pleased about the return of the Sparkasse, which he described as “a positive step for Altenkunstadt”.
The councilors were also pleased about the plans of the Caritas district association in Lichtenfels to convert the former Brunn shoe store on Dr.-Johann-Sattler-Straße into a nursing competence center. From there, patients in Altenkunstadt and Weismain will receive outpatient care. “We have been thinking about expanding the Burgkunstadt social center for years,” explained Caritas district manager and local councilor Thomas Geldner (CSU). “While looking for a suitable building, we came across the Schuhhaus Brunn, on the ground floor of which the nursing competence center will be built.”
It will remain part of the Burgkunstadt social station. The new branch office could save travel times. This makes the employees’ work more productive. According to Oppel, jobs for administration and management will be created in the former shoe store; nothing will change on the facade.
Social center branch
The inauguration of Mainecker Straße, which was announced at the citizens’ meeting after the renovation of canals and water pipes, will no longer happen in November. When asked by Frank Manzer (CSU), construction technician Frank Söllner explained that the construction companies had not yet completely completed their work and were already working on other construction sites, so that the final work was left undone. The construction company was given a deadline of December 10th.
Patrick Paravan (SPD) spoke out in favor of designating disabled parking spaces near the town hall. The parking spaces in the yard are not wheelchair accessible because of the slope. He described the small stone paving at the town hall entrance as an imposition. A wheelchair-friendly surface should be applied.
Three years ago, new water pipes were laid on Pommernstrasse. Paravan pointed out that there was significant settlement of around four centimeters in the turning hammer. The administration should inform the construction company of the damage so that it can be repaired within the warranty period.
Marco Weidner (JWU) complained that many traffic and information signs in Altenkunstadt were covered with stickers from football teams. The perpetrators should be reported to the police. Office manager Alexander Pfaff explained that sticking on signs was a dangerous interference with road traffic and constituted a punishable offence.
