Sparco, a historic Turin company that produces technical clothing for motorsport and created the suit of Formula 1 champion Max Verstappen, will give a bonus of 3,000 euros gross to all workers who have a child or adopt one in 2024. The initiative – called ‘Parental Policy’ – aims to strengthen corporate welfare over the next five years “to improve employee well-being and create virtuous mechanisms with the local realities in which the company operates”. Sparco – which has three business units: racing and motorsport, carbon, shoes and safety clothing – achieved a turnover of over 140 million in 2022 and is aiming for 150 million this year. It has 1,700 employees, 800 of which are in Italy and is present in Tunisia, the USA and Spain. “I had this idea because we are a very young company with an average age of employees under 40 and 60% women. Ours is a tailoring profession and in the carbon unit also very manual because it requires small hands to do the lamination of carbon pieces. We have just filed our sustainability report and we intend to implement our ESG rating” explains Niccolò Bellazzini, Sparco brand manager and member of the board of directors. “We also have a high number of women in management, many are first line managers in strategic positions such as commercial, legal, motorsport, human resources. I took inspiration from large companies such as Prysmian which has carried out a similar operation in July guaranteeing 5,000 euros to its employees who have a child.”
