Spar + Leihkasse Gürbetal switches to Finstar platform

December 22, 2020, 8:39 a.m.

Lenzburg – Spar + Leihkasse Gürbetal will in future handle its business via the Finstar banking platform. The migration of the systems of the Bern regional bank should be completed by January 1, 2022. Hypothekarbank Lenzburg, which Finstar develops, markets and operates, and Spar + Leihkasse Gürbetal signed a corresponding agreement today.

Spar + Leihkasse Gürbetal (SLG) specializes in mortgages and loans for medium-sized customers, craftsmen and SMEs in the canton of Bern. In 2017, it made a name for itself across the country with the so-called “SLG entry-level mortgage”, in which, thanks to higher amortization, the effectively charged interest rates are used for the affordability calculation. The product met with lively customer interest.

The decisive factor for the migration to the Finstar platform was, among other things, that Hypothekarbank Lenzburg could take into account the interests of the Bern regional bank when further developing the Finstar loan application, says Markus Siegrist, the bank manager of Spar + Leihkasse Gürbetal. “We were also won over by the commitment of the Finstar team, the modern e-banking and the clearly structured mobile app that we will also be making available to our customers,” says Siegrist.

Use Finstar “as a service”
Alongside the Caisse d’Epargne d’Aubonne and the Caisse d’Epargne Riviera, Spar + Leihkasse Gürbetal is the third regional bank that has decided to migrate to the core banking system of Hypothekarbank Lenzburg this year. The banks can use Finstar “as a service”. The system is operated and maintained by Hypothekarbank Lenzburg, and the connected banks can concentrate on using the platform and processing banking transactions.

«We look forward to working with Spar + Leihkasse Gürbetal. We are convinced that our applications will be well received. We also see it as a gain that the team from the Gürbetal wants to contribute to the further development of Finstar in line with the open culture of our open banking philosophy, ”says Marianne Wildi, CEO of Hypothekarbank Lenzburg.
