The couple of Spanish YouTubers Chris Cygnus and Carmen Dariewho recently became Mexican nationals, lived an unexpected experience when returning from a holiday in Madrid. After spending some time in Spain to introduce their baby to their respective families, the couple returned to the Mexico City last Thursday, September 5, just when two micro-earthquakes shook the capital.

Through his YouTube channel, Cygnus & Romantic Vlogsthe couple recounted what they experienced that morning, along with their nephews, who accompanied them on their return. The earthquakes, although not of great magnitude, brought back memories of previous, more intense shocks. that they had experienced in the country. The inhabitants of Mexico City and states where earthquakes are very common are already accustomed to these phenomena, so they do not usually become alerted until they are greater than 4 or 5 on magnitude.

Chris and Carmen shared some of their reactions in their video. “It was a strong shock like last time,” said Chris, who described the tremor as surprising him while he was in the bathroom.Wow, I was taking a shower, what a welcome!he added with humor, trying to take the situation calmly despite the initial scare.

For her part, Carmen said that she was about to fall asleep when she felt a slight movement. “I thought it was my imagination and felt dizzy, but when I saw the neighbors outside I realized it was an earthquake,” The YouTuber recounted how surprising the reception in the Mexican capital was after her trip.

Their nephews, who travelled with them from Spain, were also surprised by the tremor, something they had not experienced before. “I was already falling asleep and I felt a little movement”one of them commented, while another expressed his surprise at seeing people leaving their homes in the middle of the night.

The earthquake was a reminder for the couple of the peculiarities of living in Mexico, a country thatalthough it has made them fall in love with its culture and gastronomy, it has also taught them to adapt to natural phenomena such as earthquakes. Despite the scare, Chris and Carmen remained calm and were grateful that there was no damage or major consequences.
