The Spanish Public Decision, on Wednesday, announced the dismissal of the case accusing the Colombian singer Shakira tax evasion, and asked to drop the charges against the star, who had previously avoided trial at the end of last year in a separate procedure, in exchange for paying a large fine.
The Public Treasury said in a statement that it had not found “sufficient evidence” to prosecute the Colombian artist criminally, as part of this case in which the star was accused of related tax fraud to the year 2018.
Last July, a court in the suburbs of Barcelona announced that this lawsuit had been filed against the Colombian singer who is suspected of using companies that resides in tax havens to avoid all income and wealth tax that year.
The star paid 6.6 million euros the following month to the court, to prove that she was “willing to pay any debt” owed to the Spanish tax authorities.
This amount, in addition to the amount owed to the tax authorities, included late payment interest and settlement fees.

Shakira was sentenced to pay a fine of more than 7.3 million euros, equivalent to “50%” of the amount of tax fraud, according to the agreement concluded between the two sides.
The singer previously paid 17.45 million euros to the Spanish tax authorities to settle her position in this case.
The tax authorities also suspect that the singer, who moved with her two children to Miami after her split last year from Spanish soccer player Gerard Pique, evaded taxes during the 2011 fiscal year.
