Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez considered today, Tuesday, that the apology of the President of the Spanish Football Federation, Luis Rubiales, for kissing the star Jenny Hermoso on the lips after Spain won the Women’s World Cup, is “not enough.”

Kissing Rubiales (45 years), the midfielder, on her lips sparked global reactions after Spain beat England 1-0 in the final match of the Women’s World Cup. While he kissed other players on their cheeks or hugged them.

“What we saw was unacceptable behaviour,” Sanchez told a news conference when asked about the controversy surrounding the unwanted kiss. “I also think the apologies made by Mr. Rubiales are not enough.” I even think it is inappropriate, and that he should go further.

As controversy over the kiss grew, Rubiales apologized Monday in a video posted on social media. He said: I certainly made a mistake and I have to admit it. It happened without any ill intent, in a moment of great joy. Here we see the kiss as normal, but outside it caused chaos.

Rubiales stressed that he had a “wonderful relationship” with Hermoso, who defended the president of her federation after kissing her, while she said: “I didn’t like it,” although she was laughing while she spoke.

Hermoso missed a penalty in the match but Spain held on to win with an Olga Carmona goal in the first half.
