Spanish Pol Lirola reinforces Olympique de Marseille

The Spanish Pol Lirola has become the first reinforcement of Olympique de Marseille in the winter market. The former Fiorentina player comes on loan with a purchase option of € 12 million and reinforces a position in which Villas-Boas were weak, since neither Sakai nor Nagatomo had given certainty to the French team this season.

Lirola has played 13 games this season in Serie A with Fiorentina, although its importance in the viola has been fading as the course has passed. It did not count for Cesare Prandelli and the player had requested an exit that has materialized today with his arrival at OM.

The one from Mollet del Valles will become the third Spanish right-back that Olympique de Marseille has in this century. The first was César Azpilicueta, being a key player in Ligue 1 that OM won in 2010. The second was César Manquillo, who arrived on loan in 2015 and whose performance was not comparable to that of the current Chelsea player.
