Spanish mega-operation: Dutch lead drug gang Barcelona | Inland

Nineteen people were arrested: fourteen in Spain, four in the Netherlands and one in Belgium. Two tons of marijuana (34,000 plants) was also seized, as well as 467 kilos of hemp, 1.5 kilos of speed, 14 vehicles, 20,000 euros in cash and 1 pistol. 63 houses were searched simultaneously in the three countries. 300 agents were involved in the action.

The Spanish police initially tracked down a group of Albanian drug traffickers. Via other foreigners, they arranged remote houses and warehouses near Barcelona where they set up their plantations and illegally tap electricity. In total, more than one and a half million euros in electricity would have been tapped. An Albanian led the specialized production process trying to grow plants with the highest possible content of THC. The plants were picked and packaged on site and transported by road to the Netherlands.

The Dutch are in charge

During the investigation, the Spanish police found out that the organization was led by Dutch people. They directed the marijuana-growing Albanians in Barcelona, ​​as did Spaniards who were responsible for the logistics. In the meantime, two Dutch people in Ibiza and Tarragona are said to have been laundering proceeds from the drug trade.

Spanish agents were given access to the drug premises through an Albanian confidant. They then located the gang’s leader in Barcelona and tracked transports to the Netherlands.

Mega action

After the Dutch and Belgian police were called in, three hundred (!) Officers searched simultaneously a total of 63 houses in the Netherlands, Belgium and Spain, whereby the nineteen gang members could be arrested.

The gang used false Italian, Greek and Slovenian passports and identity papers, according to Spanish police.
