Spanish League Rejects Barcelona’s Plan to Lift Fair Financial Play Restrictions

Spanish press reports stated that the Spanish League rejected the plan presented by Barcelona officials to lift the restrictions of the Fair Financial Play Law on Barca in the next summer Mercato.

According to the Spanish newspaperSport”, President Juan Laporta and sports director Matteo Alemani have been trying for weeks to reach an agreement with the Spanish League, regarding an alternative solution to lifting restrictions on Barcelona.

Barcelona needs to reduce the salary bill by at least 200 million euros, in order to succeed in registering new contracts for its players and registering potential deals, most notably Argentine Lionel Messi, the star of Paris Saint-Germain.

Barcelona offered La Liga to fulfill the figure of 200 million euros within 3 years, but it was rejected by the League headed by Javier Tebas, who stated more than once that until now there was no agreement with Barca regarding the restrictions of fair financial play.

And “Sport” stated that the La Liga League also rejected the trick that Barcelona resorted to last summer, to increase revenues by selling part of the club’s assets.

And she concluded, “Barcelona does not currently have any solution to reform its economic situation, and it needs to invent new ideas.”
