Spanish football legend Andres Iniesta has signed a contract with UAE Premier League club Emirates FC. Iniesta’s contract runs until June 2024. There is also an option to extend for one more year. The 39-year-old star is set to play football in the Gulf after the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema, Sadio Mane, Jordan Henderson, N’Golo Kante and Riyad Mehrez.
Last May, Iniesta announced that he was leaving Japanese vessel Kobe. The player remained on the bench in the extra matches of the J-League season. Following this, he announced that he was leaving the club. Iniesta’s contract at Vessel Kobe expired this summer. With this, the actor was a free agent.
The player said at the official ceremony in Ras Al Khaimah that this is another very important step after spending many years of his career in Barcelona and Japan.
“I am opening a new page here and will do everything possible for the best result with my team. I did everything I could at Barcelona and Vessel Kobe. EV will do the same’ Iniesta said.
After playing for Barcelona for 16 years, Iniesta joined Japanese club Vessel Kobe in 2018. He won four Champions League titles and nine La Liga titles while at Barcelona.

Emirates FC has had its ups and downs since winning the 2020 Emirates Cup and Super Cup. Emirates FC Chairman Yusuf Al Batran said that Iniesta will wear the number 8 jersey at the club and that the player will be with the team for many years to come.
There were reports that the player would go to Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami on a two-year deal. It was also thought that Iniesta could play again with his old team-mate at Barcelona. But it didn’t happen.
