The number one of the RFEF will be relieved of his duties “pending the open disciplinary procedure”

Fifa has suspended the president of the Spanish Football Federation Luis Rubiales for 90 days because of the kiss, without consent, given to Jenni Beautiful right after Spain’s triumph in the Women’s World Cup. The number one of the RFEF, the Iberian federation, will be relieved of his duties “pending the disciplinary proceedings opened” against him on Thursday. Yesterday Rubiales, during an extraordinary meeting, refused to resign despite pressure from the government and the world of football, in Spain and beyond.
The decision was taken by
president of the FIFA Disciplinary Commission, Jorge Ivan Palacio, making use – informs the international federation itself – of the powers granted by article 51 of the Fifa Disciplinary Code. Palacio, in order to preserve the rights of the player
of the Spanish international Jennifer Hermoso and the regularity of the proceedings before the Commission, has issued two additional directives ordering Rubiales and the Spanish Football Federation and its representatives to refrain from contacting Hermoso. Finally, FIFA – specifying that the Commission will not provide further information on disciplinary proceedings until a definitive decision has been taken – reaffirms its absolute commitment to respecting the integrity of all persons and strongly condemns any contrary behaviour.
Meanwhile, the Spanish Football Federation has taken a stand to try to defend its president. After the attacks received for the failure to resign after the kiss to the Spanish player, Hermoso herself had pointed the finger at the 46-year-old, telling of feeling “the victim of an assault” and that he “suffered pressure” to defend the president. But the Football Federation is not there and defends itself from the accusations by opening a
possible legal action against the player. “Rubiales did not lie, the images speak for themselves” reads a note from the RFEF which attaches the photos in which Hermoso raised the president during the celebrations before the kiss.
“The president’s version of events is verified in the open internal dossiers and to date Mrs. Jennifer Hermoso has not responded to any of the requests made”, reads the RFEF note, which published a series of observations, complete with photos of the fact indicted, in order to prove that Rubiales”
he does not lie” and that his statements “are absolutely true”. The federation and the president “given the seriousness of the content of the Futpro Union press release” are also ready to take “legal action”, we read.
Finally, the RFEF specifies, to protect itself from possible boycott actions on the national team, that “participation in the national team is an obligation for all members in the event of a call-up”. In fact, the players had been hard and clear in a statement: ”
We will not respond to national team calls as long as the current president remains in office“.
