Spanish Agency for Food Safety and Nutrition

On November 8, 2024, the National Food Center (CNA) hosted its first open day, as part of the activities included in the Science and Innovation Week of the Community of Madrid.

The participants were received by the executive director of the Spanish Agency for Food Safety and Nutrition (AESAN), Ana López Santacruz-Serraller, who introduced the new director of the CNA, Juana Bustos García de Castro, who made a presentation on the importance of the center and its functions.

Then the visit to the center began, both to a laboratory in the biological area and to another in the chemical area.

The laboratory chosen from the biological area was Parasitology, where they were able to listen to an explanation about the analysis of trichina and anisakis.

For their part, within the chemical area they visited the Laboratory of Materials in Contact with Food, where they talked about the risks of the migration of these materials and their analysis.

The day ended with a visit to the small exhibition on the history of the ANC installed on the ground floor of the building.
