Spanish actors and actresses win Rayo Verde Award for their commitment to ocean conservation.

It is about delivering the awards to actors and actresses who support the preservation of the oceans, and have an active role in achieving the approval of a treaty that converts large areas of international waters into marine sanctuaries.

The Rayo Verde Award was created by the Film Academy and Greenpeace to recognize Spanish film professionals for their commitment to environmental and social values.

The list of winners is also made up of Úrsula Corberó (star in the series La casa de papel), Inma Cuesta, Dani Guzmán, Lucía Jiménez, Alberto Ammann, Alba Flores, Pedro Alonso, Cecilia Gessa, Jon Kortajarena and Carlos Bardem, among others.

The jury decided to award them “for their involvement in defending the protection of the oceans, essential for the conservation and protection of nature, which contributes to resilience to climate change and safeguarding the lives and livelihoods of millions of people.” ”.

Edurne Rubio and Sagrario Monedero, on behalf of Greenpeace; the producer and distributor José María Morales, winner of the first edition of this Rayo Verde Award; and the producer Rafael Portela and the director of photography Tote Trenas, from the Academy, were part of the jury.

Renowned defenders of the environment, Elena Anaya and Carlos Bardem are part of the Greenpeace campaign ‘Protect the Oceans’.

This is an initiative that urged the UN to approve a Global Ocean Treaty to protect 30 percent of international marine waters.
