Spaniard Alvaro Martin Strikes Gold at World Athletics Championships in Budapest

The first gold at the World Athletics Championships… Spaniard Martin grabs the spotlight

The twice European champion, Spain’s Alvaro Martin, won the gold medal at the World Athletics Championships in 2023 today, Saturday, to win his first medal in Budapest after his victory on Saturday in the men’s 20 km race.

The Spaniard was able to cover the distance on foot in a time of 1 hour, 17 minutes and 32 seconds, to achieve first place, 7 seconds behind the Swedish Persius Carlstrom, who won the bronze in 2022, who was previously ranked first in the world.

Brazilian Caio Bonfim finished third to win the bronze medal, in a scenario similar to what happened in 2017, after recording a time of 1:17:47.

Martin’s celebration captured the attention, after he carried the flag of the Spain national team, and knelt on the ground, who is 29 years old and can win many titles in the future.
