2024 has been a year of great success for Spanish international football. Victories at the men’s and women’s U-19 European Championships, gold at the Olympic Games and, of course, triumph at the European Championships in Germany place Spain at the top of the pyramid of national team football.
In addition to these four titles, there are other trophies in which ‘La Roja’ is the current champion, such as the Women’s World Cup or the Nations League, which it will begin to defend in September. After the first four rounds of the EA Sports LaLiga, club football stops for approximately two weeks to make way for the first international break of the 2024/2025 season.
Who is Spain playing against?
Luis de la Fuente has already presented the list of 25 players who will face Serbia and Switzerland during this first window of international football. Both matches correspond to the first two rounds of the UEFA Nations League, a championship that Spain already won in the 2022/2023 edition. The group is completed by Denmark, a team against which ‘La Roja’ will play in the October break.
Date and time of Spain’s matches
Spain’s first match since the European Championship final in Germany will be against Serbia on Thursday 5 September at 20:45 CET. The match at the Rajko Mitić Stadium in Belgrade will be the second historic encounter between these two teams, who have not met since a friendly in 2012 which ended in a 2-0 victory for Spain.
Three days later, in Switzerland, we will experience one of the most replayed matches of recent years. On Sunday 8 September at 20:45 CET, the Swiss national team will host the Spanish national team at the Stade de Genève in Geneva in the second round of the Nations League.
