Sevilla: In the first edition of the UEFA Women’s Nations League football, Spain, the world champions, won the title. In the final, France was defeated by two goals without reply. Eytana Bonmati (32) and Mariona Cadenti (53) scored. Six months after winning the World Cup, Spain women won their second major title. Spain were also the winners in last year’s men’s Nations League football. Two Nations League crowns were a rarity for Spain.

Earlier, Spain had secured qualification for the Paris Olympics by defeating the Netherlands in the semi-finals. France, as hosts, and Germany, who won the third-placed match in the Nations League, booked their tickets to the Paris Olympics. Germany beat the Netherlands (2-0). Clara Bull (66) and Leah Schuler (78) scored the winning goals.
