Two men died and 10 others were injured, some seriously, in a fire that broke out in a restaurant in Madrid on Friday night, Spain’s emergency services announced today.

According to an eyewitness who spoke to El Pais newspaper, the fire started when a waiter used a lighter on a plate, accidentally setting fire to the walls and ceiling.
Customers of the restaurant had difficulty getting out of the building as the fire broke out near the main entrance.
Police are investigating the incident.
