Spain to Officially Recognize Palestine in July, Full UN Membership Pending Vote

Full Palestinian membership in The United Nations (UN) just waiting for the time. Voting will soon take place to determine Palestine’s membership status.

As is known, until now the war in Gaza is still raging. However, there are already several countries that are ready to recognize Palestine. Some of them include Ireland, Spain, Malta and Slovenia.

In fact, Spanish Prime Minister (PM) Pedro Sanchez said that his country will officially recognize the state of Palestine next July. This acknowledgment from the Madrid authorities will be given when Sanchez goes on a tour of the Middle East region.

As reported ReutersOn Tuesday (2/4/2024), Spain’s plan to recognize the state of Palestine was revealed by PM Sanchez when he delivered this informal statement to a group of journalists who accompanied him on a trip to Amman, the capital of Jordan , Monday (1/4) afternoon local time.

The visit is part of a series of visits by PM Sanchez to Jordan, Qatar and Saudi Arabia.

Several local Spanish media, including the government news agency EFE, and major newspapers El Pais and La Vanguardia, reported the statement of PM Sanchez on Tuesday (2/4) local time.
